⛪ Our path begins at the Basilica of San Clemente, a place unlike any other. At street level, it appears as a beautiful medieval church. But as we descend, the true magic reveals itself. Each step takes us further back in time, uncovering layer upon layer of Rome’s soul: a 4th-century Christian sanctuary glowing with devotion, and deeper still, a 1st-century temple dedicated to Mithras, the enigmatic god of light and shadow, worshiped by Roman soldiers. Forty-five feet below today’s city, you’ll stand in the stillness of these sacred spaces—feeling the weight of centuries, and the whispers of countless prayers that have lingered here.

From the hidden depths, we ascend to celestial grandeur: the Archbasilica of Saint John in Lateran. Known as the “mother of all churches,” it is the Pope’s official seat and the most important Catholic church in the world. Inside, marble floors shimmer like rivers of stone, and colossal statues of the Apostles watch in silence, guardians of a house that has been a beacon of faith for over 1,700 years. Here, you cannot help but feel awe—an overwhelming sense of something greater, timeless, eternal.

And just beyond, the Holy Stairs invite reflection. Tradition tells us these steps were walked by Christ himself in Jerusalem. Today, pilgrims ascend them slowly, on their knees, in quiet devotion. To witness this act of faith—or to take part in it—is to feel connected not just to history, but to the divine.

Your journey concludes at San Giovanni Metro stop, but what you carry away from these sacred places will remain in your heart, long after you leave Rome.
